Low Maintenance Garden Renewal

This garden began as an overgrown space dominated by weeds and unmanaged growth. The clients wanted to reclaim the area and transform it into something beautiful and welcoming while keeping maintenance manageable throughout the year. Our approach focused on creating a structured planting design that would provide visual interest in every season while remaining resilient and easy to care for.

To anchor the garden, we introduced structural plantings including smoke bush and evergreen trees, creating year-round form and privacy. Creeping juniper was used as a living groundcover to help suppress weeds and stabilize the soil while adding soft texture along the ground plane.

For seasonal interest, we incorporated drifts of Rudbeckia hirta, bringing vibrant summer color and supporting pollinators. Dogwood was added for winter interest, offering striking stems and structure when much of the garden is dormant.

We also refreshed the space with mulch and natural stones, helping define the beds, retain soil moisture, and further reduce weed pressure while adding a clean, grounded aesthetic to the garden.

The result is a landscape that feels full and intentional while remaining easy to maintain—transforming a once overgrown area into a balanced garden with structure, seasonal beauty, and long-term resilience.
